Course Description
The purpose of the Resource class is to teach students self-regulatory processes, learning strategies and skills including self-determination and self-advocacy-that will have a postive effect on how students approach, view, learn and meet academic demands. The instruction provided in the Resource class is designed to help students gain an understanding of their own learning style, develop self-regulatory skills and become proficient in the use of learning strategies and skills that can be applied to challenging academic content. The goal is for students to function effectively in othe general education environment, access the general education curriculum, and master Individual Education Program goals. Students are expected to generalize the skills and startegies learned in the Resource class in their classes.
Outcomes
The following goal areas defined the framework for the Resource class and from which lessons will be presented.
1. Learning Skills: Plan, monitor and evaluate learning.
2. Thinking Skills: Think creatively, critically and strategically to make decisions, solve
problems, and achieve goals.
3. Communication Skills: Plan, participate in, monitor, and evaluate communication
experiences.
4. Technology Skills: Understand, use and evaluate technologies for a variety of purposes.
5. Interpersonal Skills: Work effectively with others and participate responsibly.
Grade Determination
Various self-monitoring tools, portfolios, independent student informal assessments will be utilized.
